OLEAN, N.Y., October 2, 2023 — The Rotary Club of Ellicottville recently established a new fund, the Rotary Club of Ellicottville Fund at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, to support the club’s efforts to impact the Ellicottville community through service and charity.
Since its formation in 1999, the Rotary Club of Ellicottville has supported numerous organizations and causes in the Ellicottville community, including the Ellicottville Memorial Library, Ellicottville Skatepark, the Ellicottville Historical Society, Ellicottville Food Bank, local Meals on Wheels, and the Nannen Arboretum.
The Rotary Club of Ellicottville has also supported students in the Ellicottville Central School district by providing school supplies, lunch programs, travel, and special projects for those in need in the district.
Additionally, the group has provided quiet support through its “Family Support for Ellicottville” program which has provided funds for unexpected medical expenses for those less fortunate in the community.
“The goal of the Rotary Club of Ellicottville Fund is to allow the club to receive tax-deductible donations that allow it to continue and bolster its impact in the community,” said John Weismantel, club president.
“There are numerous groups and individuals with many and varying needs, and we [the club] are dedicated to helping these people in every way we possibly can possibly,” he said.
The fund will help to bolster the club’s impact by creating a financial reserve in support of its fundraising efforts, he added. The goal of the fund is to continue elevating the important role of service clubs at a time when their support is most needed.
The Rotary Club of Ellicottville Fund is the second fund at CRCF established a Cattaraugus County rotary club, as the Rotary Club of Olean established a fund of their own with the Foundation in 2017 to support ongoing community improvement projects.
“We are thrilled that the Rotary Club of Ellicottville has trusted CRCF to help support its mission through this fund,” said CRCF Executive Director Kirk Windus. “Rotary clubs have long played an important role in communities by living out the rotary motto of ‘service above self,’ and we look forward to seeing this fund aid the Rotary Club of Ellicottville in its continued service of the Ellicottville community.
